Cowboys Up to No. 10 in AFCA Coaches Poll

The Cowboys just keep on winning, and have earned their last two victories in dominant fashion keeping both Kansas and West Virginia out of the end zone.

But OSU’s latest convincing road win in Morgantown only allowed an incremental climb, albeit into the Top 10, in this week’s AFCA Coaches poll. OSU moved from No. 11 to 10.

Here’s a look at the complete ranking.

Rank Team  Record Prev Week
1 Georgia 9-0 1
2 Alabama 8-1 3
3 Cincinnati 9-0 2
4 Oklahoma   9-0 4
5 Ohio State 8-1 5
6 Oregon 8-1 7
7 Notre Dame 8-1 8
8 Michigan 8-1 10
9 Michigan State 8-1 6
10 Oklahoma State 8-1 11
11 Texas A&M 7-2 12
12 Ole Miss 7-2 15
13 Wake Forest 8-1 9
14 Iowa 7-2 16
15 Brigham Young 8-2 20
16 Texas-San Antonio 9-0 18
17 Houston 8-1 19
18 Baylor 7-2 13
19 NC State 7-2 22
20 Auburn 6-3 14
21 Coastal Carolina 8-1 21
22 Pittsburgh 7-2 25
23 Penn State 6-3 23
24 Wisconsin 6-3 NR
25 UL-Lafayatte 8-1 NR

An upset Saturday saw No. 6 Michigan State fall to unranked Purdue and No. 9 Wake Forest fall to unranked North Carolina. No. 2 Cincinnati looked vulnerable in a close win over Tulsa. All dropped, though Michigan State only fell to nine. Baylor dropped five spots to 18 after getting upset by TCU. Alabama, on the other hand, failed to dominate a .500 LSU team. The Tide did move up a spot though. It just means more.

The Cowboys debuted at No. 11 in last week’s College Football Playoff ranking AKA, the only one that matters. It will be interesting to see how the committee views some of those subpar performances above the Pokes come Tuesday night, and how that Top 25 compares to the Coaches and AP this week.
