Oklahoma State Announces Home-and-Home with Alabama

The Cowboys (or at least whoever is in charge of scheduling) wants Bama.

Oklahoma State announced a home-and-home series with Alabama on Tuesday morning. It’ll still be a little bit before those games actually happen. The Pokes will host the Crimson Tide on Sept. 23, 2028 before heading to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 15, 2029.

OSU and Alabama have played just once to this point, coming in the Independence Bowl in 2006. OSU won that game. Bobby Reid threw for 212 yards and a touchdown to Adarius Bowman. Dantrell Savage also ran for 112 yards and a score.

Nick Saban was in his last season with the Miami Dolphins in 2006. Then he got to Alabama and turned it back into the gold standard of college football.

In Saban’s tenure, the Crimson Tide has won six national championships, including the most recent one, where Alabama ran through Ohio State 52-24 to finish the season 13-0.

There’s reason to believe that Saban will be around for at least the game in Stillwater, as Alabama announced Monday it had extended him through the 2028 season.

“We are very excited to add another excellent opponent to our future non-conference schedule with the addition of Oklahoma State,” Saban said in Alabama’s release. “[Alabama AD] Greg Byrne and our administration have done a great job of scheduling outstanding football games that benefit both our program and our fans.”

This tough scheduling is something OSU has planned more and more over recent years. Starting in 2022, the Cowboys already have a Power Five opponent scheduled in the nonconference up until 2029. OSU also has Power Five opponents scheduled from 2032 to 2035.

2024 — Arkansas (Stillwater)
2025 — Oregon (Eugene)

2034 — Nebraska (Lincoln)
