Head coach Ryan Hybl will try to lead his program to its third national title on Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Oklahoma Sooners downed the top-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils, 3-2 on their own home course — the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale — in the semifinal round of the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. With the win, OU advances to the national title in a matchup against Pepperdine.

Arizona State’s Chun An Yu won a decisive match against Oklahoma’s Garett Reband, while the Sun Devils’ Ryggs Johnston was able to outstroke OU’s Ben Lorenz, but beyond that, the Sooners looked impressive in the desert. Jonathan Brightwell won his match in a nail biter over ASU’s David Puig, Logan McAllister defeated Mason Andersen, and Quade Cummins took care of Cameron Sisk to send the Crimson & Cream to the championship round.

Next, Oklahoma will face off Pepperdine — who defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their semifinal matchup — for the 2021 NCAA D-I Men’s Golf National Championship on Wednesday, June 2. A win tomorrow would give the Sooners their third national title in program history, and the second under head coach Ryan Hybl. First tee time is set for 3:30 p.m. CT with TV coverage beginning at 4 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel.
